Our Mission
To produce the purest raw honey while nurturing healthy bee populations, educating our community, and preserving the art of traditional beekeeping for future generations.
Our Story
Golden Hive Honey Co. was founded in 1998 by Tom Golden on the same land where his grandfather kept bees in the 1940s. What started as six hives and a passion for pollinators has grown into one of Vermont's most beloved apiaries.
Tom's grandfather, Harold Golden, was a dairy farmer who kept bees on the side — "for the soul," he'd say. Tom grew up helping his grandfather in the apiary, learning the rhythms of the bees and the land. After college and a brief stint in agricultural science, Tom returned home with a vision: to build a business that honored his grandfather's traditions while embracing sustainable, modern beekeeping.
Today, Golden Hive manages over 200 colonies across three Vermont counties and partners with farms, schools, and businesses throughout New England. But at heart, we're still just a family that loves bees.
What We Stand For
Our values guide everything we do — from the hives to your home
Bee-First Philosophy
The health of our bees comes before everything else. We use no chemicals, respect natural rhythms, and ensure every colony thrives.
Raw & Real
We never pasteurize, filter, or add anything to our honey. What comes from the hive goes into the jar — pure and simple.
Community Roots
We're proud to be a Vermont family business. We support local farmers markets, schools, and environmental initiatives throughout New England.
Sustainable Practices
From solar-powered extraction facilities to recyclable packaging, we're committed to leaving the land better than we found it.
